Observations

Apparently putting two heavily opinionated men in the same room - even if their views of the world are identical - does not automatically create chemistry.

I was asked twice in a period of 10 minutes to play drums (for 2 different bands). I find this hilarious as, while I play drums, I am not a drummer, and the drumsticks I was buying were for my brother.

Dream Theater is fucking awesome...How the hell does a band that is not Rush make a 13 minute song not get extensively convoluded and meandering? I dont know, but The Glass Prison proves it is possible.

I didn't even make it to my own deadline, much less Becca's. Dammit. What to do, what to do....

I'm pretty sure God must play a '63 Strat, its that great a guitar.

Getting a Muff for Christmas doesn't nessecarily mean that I got laid (trust me, I know).

I have horrid writer's block, and I need help.

I would like to slap the guy who wrote the Hal Leonard Blues Method book for describing Albert King's bending technique as "callous busting". Seriously, just thinking of busting a callous is gross and makes my knees kinda week. It also totally disrupted the creative flow I had going at the time, thanks a lot.

I need to get myself into some kind of music lesson, not sure if it will be piano or guitar, but I need a bit of structured instruction to get myself back on track.

Christmas Break

I am now breaking for Christmas...completely. This means no work for two weeks. This makes me happy, as I haven't had a solid week off of work since sometime in June.

This is going to be a crucial time for me. I essentially have 2 weeks devoid of any distraction, and in those 2 weeks, I have a lot of things to sort out. First and foremost is school, as I essentially have to play catchup for stuff i missed over the course of the first term. I also have a number of other things I need to deal with in order for me to get back to my funtional old self. But this isnt the time or the place to discuss such things.

A summary

Whew, three nights out in a row, good times had all around. However, I was significantly more tanked that I initially though I was last night. Meh, got home safe and whatnot, can't complain.

I finally restrung my Strat, which is good, because those strings on them were seriously sketchy. I'm glad I bought 2 packs though, as I broke one of the high e strings trying to put it on. Fun times.

Ive also discovered that my height and lack of flexibility prohibit me from sitting cross legged for any length of time without causing possible hip damage. I tried to today, sitting crosslegged with my guitar infront of my amp with a songbook on the floor infront of me. Yeah, after about 15 minutes I had to stop for fear of needing hip replacement before Im 20.

Auuuugh, stupid Lenscrafters

I was so happy with my glasses. The fit was almost perfect, just a bit tight around the ears, and it was somewhat uncomfortable. So I decided, rather than making the trek all the way up to Markham, I would just go to Fairview and get them adjusted. BIG MISTAKE.

I knew how well they fit, so I was implicit with what I needed adjusted. I thought I gave them a pretty retard proof explanation, but apparently not. Two very frustrating adjustments later, I have the most annoyingly uncomfortable pair of eyewear I have ever owned. I now have to figure out when I'll have time to go to Markville Mall and get them fixed properly.

Frustration

I guess today was both a personal success and failure for me. I am, without a doubt, past the whole phase of "not wanting to interact with people and making up lame excuses." I actually want to hang around with people and whatnot. My only problem now seems to be the whole "interaction" part of the picture.

I guess Nadia put it best when she said that I laid on the "alkward sauce" pretty thick tonight. It's strange, it seems like my whole problem is just being myself among a large group of people. I'm ok when I'm around people that I know, or even one or two people I dont know particularly well. But get me in with a group of people many of whom I dont know, and I'm like "gah, what do I do?!?!?!" I generally wind up kind of seizing up and getting really quiet and being generally alkward and its not good times. Im going to have to deal with this, Im just not sure how.
